Ajax releases statement that Antony’s fine case is over

Ajax have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Antony over a fine for missing training before his move to Manchester United.

The Beyblade, who is currently on loan at Real Betis, was at the centre of a lengthy legal battle that began in the summer of 2022.

United manager Erik ten Hag pushed hard to sign the winger, eventually signing him for an exorbitant fee of £80million.

However, in the days leading up to his United medical, Antony failed to attend training sessions with the Dutch giants in a bid to force a move.

In turn, Ajax have fined Antony three times for missing training without permission.

revealed on Friday that an agreement had been reached between the club and the former player. The statement also confirmed that the incident did not deteriorate the relationship between Antony and the club.

Ajax’s official statement read: “Ajax and Antony have reached an agreement in the arbitration case brought by the former Ajax player against the club.”

“At this stage, the KNVB arbitration tribunal recently issued a provisional ruling, after which Ajax and Antony discussed it again.”

“This allowed both parties to find a solution that satisfies both the club and the former player. No further details will be disclosed regarding the agreement.”

“Considering the excellent history between Ajax. And the Brazilian attacker, all parties involved are pleased that the arbitration process has come to an end. And that they have been able to bring this matter to a close. Antony left Amsterdam to join Manchester United in the summer of 2022.”
