“I had help from many people, like Simeone, Koke, Miguel Angel Gil (Atletico Madrid president) and my psychiatrist. “

What you see on TV and on social media is often not real. It’s just an image because it’s your job. But often I can’t do something as simple as tying my boots. Many times I had to go home early because I couldn’t speak and my vision was blurry,”

Morata said. He played seven times at Euros in mid-year but three months before the tournament started he was doubtful he would ever play again.

“I don’t know what happened to me but it’s very complicated and delicate. At that moment you realise that the thing you love most in the world is the thing you hate the most. It’s complicated.”
