Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Yekeres has dismissed speculation that former boss Ruben Amorim was never tempted to join Manchester United.
“It’s sad that he has to leave, but of course we understand his decision,” Jökeres told Fotbollskanalen.
“Of course he means a lot to me, considering the opportunities he gave me, he helped me develop a lot.”
“He (Amorim) may already have a good striker there, so we’ll have to see,”
“No, he didn’t contact me. It’s fun, but I don’t take it seriously because it’s just a casual conversation. Nothing concrete.”
Since Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as United’s new manager, speculation has mounted that the Portuguese will bring some of his old Sporting players to Old Trafford. ยูฟ่าเบท http://ufabet999.app But prolific forward Gyokeres has ruled out a January transfer exit but did suggest his long-term future was uncertain.
The 26-year-old’s future has been a question mark following his impressive form at Sporting and the undeniable link with a move to Manchester United after Amorim moved to Old Trafford.
If United are to sign Jökeres, they could have to wait until next summer, with the 26-year-old reportedly having a ‘gentleman’s contract’ with Sporting that would allow him to leave for between £50m and £80m, well below his £83m release clause.
